NAMES OF GOD Series 2

I further explored this subject, the names for God given in the Old Testament, using different materials and adding human images to the paintings. I did this because each name relates to how God relates to us. I have 11×17 inch signed prints available of each painting for $50.

The first painting: ELOHIM–THE CREATOR. (GENESIS 2:4)
Artists create from existing items. They gather things together, and color them, mark them, with materials made from other existing materials. They create something newly changed, but not new as God created. But when they create, they are involved in a small way with the work of God the creator.

The second painting is: JEHOVA SHAMMAH–THE LORD WHO IS THERE, WHO SEES. ( EZEKIEL 10:18-19)
God sees us, cares, and notices us even when we are overlooked and invisible to the world.

The third painting is JEHOVA JIREH–THE LORD WILL PROVIDE.(GENESIS 22:14)
Jireh means “to provide, or to foresee, as a prophet.” God always provides and is adequate when the time comes–at the perfect moment. God provided the lamb used by Abraham when his obedience and willingness to sacrifice had been tested. God gives us what we need just at the right time. Our job is to obey Him and trust Him. It often looks like God is late or doesn’t see, maybe doesn’t care, as our time of crisis gets close. But He does care, and He will come through, and we will have grown through the testing.

The fourth painting is–JEHOVA NISSI–THE LORD IS MY BANNER.
(EXODUS 17:15)
Sometimes God calls on us to confront enemies who try to thwart us as we seek to live as God called us to live. There is a time for turning the other cheek and there is a time to confront in love, and try and stop them. At these times, God is our banner who we look to and remember, when we see His banner waving, why we fight and for whom. A banner is held high so all soldiers can see it and follow their leader into battle. A banner gives direction as we follow, and serves as a visual reminder of who is leading you.

The fifth painting is JEHOVA TSIDKENU–THE LORD OF OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. (JEREMIAH 23: 1-6)
God cannot connect with imperfect, sinful people, but when He looks upon a Christian, He sees the righteousness of Christ. This allows the connection. The God of our righteousness is really Christ. Through this heavenly connection, we are able to live lives led by God that unfold in ways that are fruitful and healthy.

The sixth painting is JEHOVA SABAOTH–THE LORD OF HOSTS.
( PSALM 46:7)
God is the commander of angelic hosts and the armies of God. This is a reminder that there is another dimension of forces that battle and compete, above our awareness. And God controls all of this.

The seventh painting is KANNA–THE LORD IS A JEALOUS GOD.
( EXODUS 20:5)
God wants to be first in our lives and won’t share this position with our own egos, with any other person, or thing. We are to choose daily whom we serve.
